The Best Burgers in Omaha for Families
Omaha takes its burgers seriously. Here's where to take the family, from Stella's in Bellevue to the retro Louie M's Burgerlust and old-school Dinker's.
Ask ten people in Omaha where to get the best burger and you'll get ten answers and maybe an argument. That's a good sign. This town takes its burgers seriously. Here's where to take the family.
Top of most lists is Stella's, over in Bellevue. They've been at it since 1936, family-owned, passed down through the generations, and their burger has been named Omaha's best about as many years in a row as anybody can remember. Kids get big portions and little bendy sticks to keep them busy while you wait. The one catch is the line can get long, because it's no secret. Get there early and you're golden.
For a fun, retro feel, Louie M's Burgerlust is the move. It started 40 years ago as a little doughnut-and-juice stop and grew into a full-on Omaha institution, with a 50s diner theme, breakfast and lunch seven days a week, and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays (as of July 2026). The kids love the throwback vibe, and the burgers hold up.
And then there's Dinker's, which has been flipping burgers since the 60s. It's a small, no-frills, family-run Omaha legend, and folks drive clear across town for the burgers and the onion rings. It's tiny and it's old-school, so don't expect fancy. That's the whole charm.
Here's a tip that saves everybody. With a hungry crew, order some onion rings or fries the second you sit down. A few minutes of something to nibble buys you all the patience in the world while the burgers cook. Sounds small. Changes the whole meal.
Half the fun here is picking your own favorite. So don't just take a list's word for it. Try a couple, let the kids weigh in, and start an argument of your own. That's a good Omaha tradition to hand down.
Then go get everybody a burger.
