The Best Mini Golf and Go-Kart Spots in Omaha
Windmills, water slides, and go-karts that actually go. Here are the Omaha-area mini golf and go-kart spots worth the trip, with the indoor-vs-outdoor, ages, and season stuff parents actually need.
Somebody's holding the putter like a baseball bat and there's already a ball in the water hazard. Nobody's even keeping score. That's mini golf with kids, and honestly, that's the whole point. You're not there for a clean 18. You're there to kill a couple hours, laugh at a windmill, and get everybody a little tired before dinner.
Omaha's got more of this than you'd think. Indoor courses for the days it's 98 and sticky, outdoor tracks for the perfect June evening, and a couple of places where the go-karts are the real draw and the mini golf is just the warmup. Here's where the good ones live, and the stuff you'll want to know before you load the car.
Start with the biggest name. Fun-Plex over at 70th and Q is Nebraska's largest waterpark, but it's also the go-kart spot a lot of Omaha kids remember from their own childhoods. The 2026 season opened May 23, and this year they put in a brand-new go-kart track that's faster and smoother, with a covered pit area. It's outdoor and seasonal, open daily in summer 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with Friday Night Rides running the karts and rides later, until 10 p.m., plus special pricing after 5 p.m. (as of July 2026 — confirm current hours at their site). Heads up, it's a whole-day, whole-wallet kind of place once you fold in the waterpark. Go early, bring sunscreen, and know that the littlest kids will be aimed at the kiddie rides while the big ones chase the karts. If you're planning a full summer-water day anyway, it pairs naturally with our roundup of the best splash pads and spray parks in Omaha for the cheaper days in between.
When it's raining, or January, or just too hot to function, the indoor spots earn their keep. The Amazing Pizza Machine down at 13955 S Plaza is the all-indoor, all-under-one-roof answer. Glow-in-the-dark mini golf, an electric go-kart racetrack, bumper cars, 170-some arcade games, laser tag, and a buffet the kids will destroy. It runs Wednesday and Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and it's closed Mondays and Tuesdays (as of July 2026 — confirm current hours at their site), so check the day before you go. It's not cheap, but it's climate-controlled and it'll eat an entire afternoon, which on a bad-weather day is exactly what you're buying.
For mini golf specifically, the newer star is Prehistoric Putt at 2500 South 120th Street, right around 120th and Center. It's indoor, dinosaur-themed, and it's got four brand-new 18-hole courses, so you're not stuck waiting behind the same group the whole way. There's a VR laser tag arena and a big arcade too, plus a kitchen and sports bar for the grown-ups. Open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., last tee time 30 minutes before close (as of July 2026 — confirm current hours at their site). Being indoors makes it a genuine year-round pick, which matters more than you'd think in an Omaha winter.
Want to be outside and keep it simple? Boulder Creek Amusement Park at 14208 S Street has two 18-hole outdoor courses, the metro's biggest outdoor batting cages, and a 24-foot rock wall. Fair warning, no go-karts here, so if the karts are the whole reason for the trip, this isn't your stop. But for a straightforward evening of putting and swinging a bat, it's open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily in season (as of July 2026 — confirm before you go) and it's easy. Older kids who've outgrown the toddler stuff do great here.
One more to mention, with an asterisk. Papillion families have long counted on Papio Fun Park on E Lincoln Street for its outdoor go-kart track, mini golf, and batting cages. As of this writing it's listed as temporarily closed, so call first at 402-592-5671 or check their site before you drive out. When it's running it's one of Sarpy County's better-value spots, and it's worth keeping on the list. It's the kind of place that fits a Papillion afternoon, which we mapped out in our guide to things to do in Papillion with kids.
A few things I've learned hauling kids to these places. Match the spot to the weather, because there's nothing worse than driving to an outdoor course under a thunderhead. Indoor Prehistoric Putt and the Pizza Machine save a rained-out day; Fun-Plex and Boulder Creek are your blue-sky picks. Watch the ages, too. The little ones lose interest around hole 12 no matter how good the course is, so keep it moving and don't force all 18. And know the season. The outdoor stuff mostly runs spring through early fall, while the indoor places carry you the rest of the year.
And if the whole day falls apart? You're never far from a free backup around here. A park with a playground, or one of the lake trails, is always minutes away, and we've got the best of those in the best parks in Omaha for families and the best family bike trails and paths in Omaha.
Pick indoor or outdoor. Check the hours. Let them hold the putter wrong. They'll ask to go back before you're even in the parking lot.
